Home Energy Improvement Grants in the UK

There are currently three main government grants available for home energy improvements in the UK — and each serves a different purpose. ECO4 covers insulation and heating upgrades for low-income households. The BUS Scheme supports heat pump installations for all homeowners. The Warm Homes Plan is the new flagship programme replacing ECO4 from 2026.

You don't need to navigate this alone. We check your eligibility across every scheme for you — free, with no obligation.

Which Grant Is Right for You?

The UK government offers different home energy grants depending on your household type and property needs. ECO4 is aimed at low-income households and can fully fund eligible insulation and heating upgrades. The BUS Scheme is available to all homeowners and provides support towards heat pump installations. The Warm Homes Plan is the upcoming national programme designed to replace ECO4 and expand funding for energy-efficient home improvements.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get more than one grant?

In some cases, yes. You may qualify for both ECO4 and the BUS Scheme if you meet the criteria for both — we check every combination during your free assessment.

How long does the grant application take?

Typically 4–8 weeks from initial contact to installation, depending on survey availability and grant approval times.

Do I need to pay anything back?

No. ECO4 and BUS Scheme grants are not loans — there is nothing to repay. Where a measure attracts partial funding, any top-up contribution is quoted before you agree.

I don't receive benefits — can I still get a grant?

Yes. The BUS Scheme is open to all eligible homeowners with no means testing, and ECO4 may also cover you via the low EPC route or local authority flex rules.

What happens after ECO4 ends?

The Warm Homes Plan replaces ECO4 from 2026. You can register your interest now and we'll notify you as soon as it opens.

Is my home suitable for a heat pump?

Most homes are suitable. We assess your property honestly during your free survey and tell you if it isn't.

How do I get started?

Are there any other grants available?

Local authorities may offer additional grants and support schemes. We check all available options for you as part of the free assessment.
